Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 egg yolk for egg wash
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Preparation

In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix in oil, eggs, sugar, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Gradually add remaining flour to form a dough.

Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.

Punch down dough, divide into strands, braid them, and place on a baking sheet. Let rise for 30 minutes.

Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes until golden.
